the working process and studio practice: new art from past art
About
AIL-DDYFEISIO RE-TAKE/RE-INVENT
Re-take, Re-invent is a group exhibition project featuring 16 artists responding to works of art currently held at Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales. The artists are all connected with North Wales, and have been interpreting their chosen art work from the critical standpoint of current studio practice leading to new ideas and connections creating fascinating journeys of discovery as each finds ways to connect with content and meaning. As a project initiated by Fine Art at Bangor University, Re-take Re-invent has been taking place over two years allowing an extended time to focus on the process of making and will highlight sketches, studies and work books as well as finished art works. The project has included studio visits, schools projects and contributions to a group journal with commissioned photographs of the artists and studios all tracking the process of making new art from the past. Re-take Re-invent will feature in three venues simultaneously across the region and has been generously supported by the Arts Council of Wales.
The project has been devised, curated and managed by Andrew Smith, Director of Fine Art, Bangor University.
This project is made up of practicing artists, many of whom are tutors on the BA Fine Art degree course / MA Fine Art degree course at Bangor University. More information about Fine Art study at Bangor University can be found on the Fine Art Programme website.
